How do Bail Bonds work?

When someone is arrested, a judge will set a bail amount. This is the amount of money it will take to get a person out of jail until their trial. For a set fee (usually 10% of the total bail amount), a bail bond agent will post a bond for the entire amount of the bail. This will allow the person in jail to be released until their trial. If that person does not show up for the trial, the bail bond agent either has to bring the person to court or pay the full amount of bail.
